Hand-pulling a screen print with royal blue ink in the Stencil and Thread shop Hand-pulled Plastisol ink Bulk-run friendly

Screen printing is the gold standard for getting your design onto a lot of garments at a price that makes sense. We push thick, vibrant ink through a custom screen onto each piece, then cure it so it holds up wash after wash.

It shines on bulk runs — the more you order, the lower your cost per shirt. If you're outfitting a company, a team, or an event with shirts or hoodies, this is usually the answer. We handle one to eight colors, print fronts, backs, and sleeves, and tell you up front exactly what your run will cost and when it'll be ready.

Durable by design

Cured plastisol ink bonds to the fabric — it won't crack or fade like cheap prints.

Better price at volume

Per-piece cost drops fast as quantity climbs. Big runs are where screen printing wins.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for screen printing?

Screen printing makes the most sense from about 12 pieces up. Below that the screen setup is a large share of the cost, and DTF transfers usually come out cheaper. Tell us your quantity and we will tell you honestly which method costs less.

How much does screen printing cost per shirt?

Per-piece cost depends on quantity, the number of ink colours, and the garment. The pattern is consistent: cost per shirt drops sharply as the run grows, and each additional ink colour adds a screen. We quote the full run up front, so you see the real per-piece number before you commit.

How long does a screen printing order take?

Most orders run about one to two weeks from artwork approval, depending on quantity and garment availability. If you have a hard deadline, tell us the date up front — we will confirm whether we can hit it before you place the order rather than after.

How many colours can you print?

One to eight colours, on fronts, backs, and sleeves. Designs with large areas of solid colour are what screen printing does best. Photographic or heavily gradient artwork usually prints better as a DTF transfer.

Will the print crack or fade in the wash?

Not if it is cured properly. We use plastisol ink cured to temperature so it bonds to the fabric. Wash inside out in cold water and it will outlast the garment. Cracking is a symptom of under-curing, which is what separates a real shop from a hobby press.

Do you print on customer-supplied garments?

Yes, though we will talk you through the trade-offs first. We cannot replace a garment we did not supply if a misprint happens, and some fabrics and finishes do not take ink well. For most orders, supplying the garments ourselves is cheaper and lower risk.
